SCAP is prepping up for a big delegation to the National Youth Day (NYD) this year in the Archdiocese of Cebu on April 23 to 28, 2019. The CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth offered One hundred fifty (150) slots to each mandated organizations, and remaining slots are still available for registration that will be due for submission on January 23.

The youth commission in Cebu and the CBCP Episcopal Commission on youth is expecting more than 10,000 young people to converge for the much-anticipated celebration. The Year of the Youth (YOTY) was launched in December 2018 marking the Church's focus on the Mission of the Filipino Youth as "Beloved, Gifted, and Empowered."

NYD is a pivotal event of the YOTY and the hosting archdiocese. NYD serves as the highlight of the YOTY while Cebu takes a meaningful preparation toward the Jubilee of 2021, the 500th anniversary of the Philippines' Christian faith. Cebu values its identity as the cradle of Christian civilization in the country. Hara Humamay's (Queen Juana) acceptance of the Image of the Sto. Nino sealed centuries-old spread of Christianity to Filipinos.

Eight cities and municipalities (Cebu City - North and South, Consolacion, Lapu-lapu City, Liloan, Mandaue City, Minglanilla, Naga City, and Talisay City) will be the festival sites of NYD. Homes from parishes from these sites will serve as foster accommodations. Fostering in NYD is an integral practice. Families will welcome participants to stay and to interact with them.
