CBCP-ECY postpones NCYM2020, NYCC due to COVID-19

The following message is coming from Bishop Rex Andrew C. Alarcon, D.D., Chairperson of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Youth:

The Episcopal Commission on Youth, in a joint decision with the Archdiocese of Palo, is postponing the National Conference of Youth Ministers 2020, scheduled this April 21-25, and the meeting of the National Youth Coordinating Council which follows on April 26. This move, primarily following directives from the Department of Health in connection between COVID 19 and large gatherings, also comes from current and ongoing updates on the situation, which includes the decision made today by the Permanent Council of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines. We hold the safety of everyone in high regard.  Together with the Archbishop of Palo, Most Rev. JOHN F. DU, DD, and his youth ministers, we are closely monitoring this in order to determine a new set of dates, which will be announced in due time. We enjoin our partners in youth ministry, particularly the Diocesan Youth Directors, Coordinators and Leaders, and those in the national councils of member-organizations of the Federation of National Youth Organizations, to keep themselves updated and to participate in initiatives we will organize as we prepare for the new dates. Through our ECY Secretariat, we are ready to reimburse registration fees of those fully registered. Finally, let us altogether participate in protective measures prescribed by competent authority, and pray for deliverance from this epidemic. Let us continue placing our hope in Christ Who is alive and Who wants us to be alive.
